About

My research interests include environmental geochemistry and GIS applications, soil protection and sustainability, water quality, contaminated land and remediation, and all the inter-related aspects and impacts on the environment and society.

I am currently working as Lecturer in Environmental Sciences at the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences of the Nottingham Trent University. I am Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) in Geography and teach on a number of modules, including: i) Natural Resource Management,  ii) GIS and Spatial Analysis and iii) Sustainability.
I was recently involved in with the Centre for Environmental Management (CEM) of the University of Nottingham on the EU funded SENSOR project (http://sensor-ip.org/) to design, implement and test the Sustainability Choice Space (SCS) concepts within the Sustainability Impact Assessment Tool (SIAT) developed with SENSOR. Trained as a geochemist and soil scientist, I have also worked in the Environment Management department of the Environment Agency for three years prior to joining the CEM. In my future work I will seek to draw from my expertise in physical processes to reinforce interdisciplinarity, particularly in the fields of sustainable landscape development and ecosystem services.

I am a member of the British Society of Soil Science (BSSS) and an Associate Editor for the Journal of Geochemical Exploration.

I have a PhD from The University of Nottingham which focused on trace elements in soil pore water and the assessment of sampling procedures for bioavailability measurement. In addition, I have a degree in Earth Sciences (1st with distinction) from the University of Naples (Italy) and a specialization in environmental geochemistry (Leonardo Training placement and proficiency courses undertaken at the British Geological Survey).
